Beverlye Hyman - Fead

Biography

At a young age Beverlye pursued her love for art. She studied at UCLA and later she became a well-known ceramist that worked in Deruta , Italy .

In addition to her art, Beverlye has always enjoyed writing. Thirty-five years ago she began writing travel articles for "In Flight Magazine." She also wrote sports interviews. It was a wonderful opportunity that incorporated her love of travel and sport. Later, she wrote articles for Montecito Journal and travel articles for Santa Barbara Magazine.

After having been diagnosed with 4th stage cancer in late 2002 and given two months to live, Beverlye decided on an experimental treatment and then went to a poetry class at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara. The class inspired her to write her book, "I Can Do This: Living With Cancer; Tracing A Year of Hope. It combined her skills in painting and poetry with the kind of hope and inspiration that can only happen to someone who lived through it. The book can be bought on Amazon.com.

Since having been published by the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara, the book has provided many opportunities for Beverlye to share her story of hope. She attended the Santa Barbara 's Writers Conference in 2004 and won an award for nonfiction. She was a keynote speaker for the Caring House of Duke University Comprehensive Cancer Center and was one of the Women of Action in 2005 for Israel Cancer Research fund in Beverly Hills , Ca.
