In order to connect with the energy and learn to direct it, people need to establish a stillness, a place free of thoughts and fears and anticipation. They need to separate themselves from the thoughts and emotions that constantly occupy their minds.
We use several exercises to teach and/or strengthen this skill: Meditation; Personal Journaling; Reflection in Nature; Controlled Breathing. The resistance to this step is Monkey Mind, the tendency to indulge in a stream of thoughts, mostly negative, that keep people from feeling peaceful.
