Unfinished Business
Somewhere between your mid-40's and mid-60's, even if you're vital and healthy, you may begin to experience anxiety, boredom and restlessness from an undefined cause. You are experiencing a normal crisis brought on by the inevitable and pressing awareness that you won't live forever. Long-term studies of Adult Development prove that resolving your Unfinished Business is the key to a longer, healthier, happier life.
The successful resolution of this crisis is vital to how happy you will be and how long you will live. To resolve these feelings, you need to address your unfinished business.
What is unfinished business? It's the uncompleted wishes, desires and fantasies about who you are and what you want to experience in life. It's also the obstacles that stand in your way of getting there.
There are two basic types of unfinished business. The first is Forward Going. It's the experiences you want to have that add passion, purpose and joy to these potential-laden years of your life. For example, a woman in her mid 20's chose the teaching profession over a career in law in order to contribute to the support of her family. In her 50's she was feeling unaccountably bored and unhappy - until she recognized her unfulfilled desire to study law was beginning to surface as unfinished business.
The second type is Emotional/Physical. A divorced woman has to overcome the emotions of mistrust, betrayal, and what she feels is a "failed" relationship in order to enter into a new relationship. A man who loses his self esteem because of his aging body, needs to learn to love himself for what he is.
The resolution of your unfinished business can be the difference between a vital, productive life and one of unfulfilled aspiration, increasing boredom and eventual emptiness. Third Age International is dedicated to helping you identify, define and begin work on completing your unfinished business. We offer seminars, workshops, support groups, individual coaching, and a variety of services that can be of assistance to you in accomplishing your goals.
